Xyston Xyston Xyston

The Xyston was a heavy, two-handed spear made famous by Alexander the Great, who is pictured using one on the Alexander Mosaic in Pompeii. At 11-14 feet, this spear required significant skill to use, not least of all because it was used on horseback. In the Alexander mosaic, both ends are tipped with metal.
