A pollaxe, or poleax, was a long weapon with an ax, hammer, and spike. The axe was the main weapon, backed up by the fluke or hammer on the opposite side, and a dagger-like spike on the top. It was always modular, never a single piece, which differentiates it from other weapons of the time. The head was mounted with langets, and the design included a rondelle below the head. Rings along the length of the shaft kept hands from slipping, and it was fitted with a spike on the bottom.
