Dory

Dory Dory Dory

The early Greeks, most notably those from Sparta, used the dory in their phalanx formation. It was a two to four pound, seven to nine foot staff of cornel or ash wood, and had an iron, leaf-shaped head with a bronze butt-spike. Its successor, the sarissa, was very similar, but much longer.
